The creator has recorded “Get a discount on everything,” but the store team points out that new arrivals are excluded and some promotions cannot be combined. Viewers will discover the mismatch at checkout.

**Before sending a creator a discount code, test representative cart conditions and approve wording that reflects the results.** A code existing in the store admin does not establish what a shopper will receive.

## Get the current rules from the store owner

Record the code, eligible products or collections, customer requirements, minimum purchase, start and end times with time zone, usage limits, and combination rules. If a condition is undecided, assign an owner and confirmation date. Do not ask the creator to fill in the gaps from a previous promotion.

[OneCrew](https://onecrewai.io/?ref=blog.onecrewai.io) helps brands organize creator information, collaboration emails, and working records. Link the store team’s rule version and code to the relevant creator, giving the confirmation email a single source of truth instead of another forwarded screenshot.

## Test more than the cart that happens to qualify

Ask the store owner to check representative cases against the actual setup. Consider this hypothetical promotion: selected bags qualify above a minimum spend, with restrictions on combining offers. Fill in the observed results from your store.

| Cart condition | Question to answer | Evidence to record |
| ------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Eligible products above the minimum | Does the agreed offer apply? | Actual discount and check time |
| Just below the minimum | How is the unmet condition explained? | Displayed message and rule |
| Eligible and excluded items together | Which items receive the discount? | Item-level outcome |
| Another offer is present | Does the combination match the plan? | Final applied offer combination |

Add cases for customer, regional, or channel restrictions when relevant. [Shopify’s official guidance](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/discounts/discount-combinations?ref=blog.onecrewai.io) explains that discount combinations depend on settings and eligibility. Two codes working separately does not prove that they stack.

Approve creator wording from the verified offer conditions.

## Turn the results into clear creator wording

Review words such as “everything,” “any item,” and “stacks with other offers.” State the main conditions in the spoken message, with supporting on-screen information or accessible promotion details as appropriate. Include the location of the full rules in the publication check.

If only selected bags qualify, begin with “Use this code for a discount on selected bags,” then add the confirmed threshold and validity period. Shorter copy should not remove conditions that affect the shopper’s decision.

Keep approved wording, the rules link, and the line needing correction with the content record in OneCrew. Ask AI to prepare a revision email from that material. Check the draft against the rules before sending it, especially for any expansion from “selected products” to “storewide.”

> Code: \[code\]. Eligibility: \[products and customer conditions\]. Validity: \[dates, times, and time zone\]. Main restrictions: \[conditions\]. Please use \[approved wording\]; full details are at \[location\]. If the rules change before publication, \[owner\] will update them and reconfirm the copy.

## Recheck changes before publication

Have the store owner confirm that the live configuration still matches the approved message. If a viewer reports a problem, collect the necessary product, time, channel, and error details without payment-sensitive information, then route them to that owner. A nonworking code, an excluded item, and an attribution dispute are different issues.

For the separate question of commission on existing-customer orders, see [Existing customers are using a creator discount code. How should you count those orders?](https://blog.onecrewai.io/en/creator-code-existing-customers-en/).

Start with one campaign code in OneCrew. Bring together the rule version, cart-check results, and approved script before preparing publication confirmation. The conditions a shopper meets at checkout should match the creator’s message.
