- Description: Check the music source and license against the planned ad use, request a music-free export when needed, and connect the evidence to the final video version.

A creator video has passed the content review. The media team is ready to advertise with it, then asks: “Is the music cleared for this use?” The person holding the finished video may not know. **The creator's agreement to advertising use and the permission to use music within the video need separate checks.** Identify the track and its source, compare the license with the actual advertising plan, and request a music-free export if the information is incomplete.

In [one creator discussion](https://www.reddit.com/r/UGCconnect/comments/1vtls1x/just%5Fbeen%5Fasked%5Ffor%5Fusage%5Frights%5Ffor%5Fthe%5Ffirst/?ref=blog.onecrewai.io), a brand requested paid-ad usage and appropriate music licensing after production. The creator had used a song found on Spotify. The workflow lesson is to collect the video-use agreement and music evidence as separate parts of the handoff.

## Ask for the music details, not just “commercial use allowed?”

Request the track title, artist or track ID, source library, account or plan used to obtain it, and the license information relevant to your intended use. Write down the planned platforms, markets, term, paid-ad use and any agency involvement.

Keep confirmed facts separate from unresolved questions. A search result calling a track “free,” or its availability inside editing software, does not explain whether your particular advertising use is covered. Check the source's actual terms and the relevant plan.

OneCrew helps teams organize creator information, email communication and working tables. For this asset, record the music source, evidence location, proposed advertising scope and open questions. Outreach and media colleagues can then refer to the same information when requesting clarification or reviewing the handoff.

## Do not assume an in-platform option covers every destination

TikTok describes its Commercial Music Library as a resource for commercial content on TikTok, including video ads. Its guidance distinguishes that library from other music sources. A music permission covering TikTok should therefore not be treated as confirmation for Meta or another destination without checking the actual scope.

Even within one platform, identify ordinary publishing and paid advertising separately. Verify the source, plan and applicable conditions rather than treating an already-published post as evidence of advertising permission.

Use a simple review order: **which track, who obtained permission, which media and uses are covered, and whether this campaign matches.** Ask the license provider or the person responsible for review to resolve ambiguous terms, and retain the answer. Community advice can help identify a question; it should not settle a specific license.

Check the music license and preserve necessary speech when replacing the track.

## Send a specific evidence request

> Subject: Music details for \[video\] advertising use
>
> Hi \[name\], we plan to use \[file version\] for \[platforms, markets, purpose and term\]. Could you share the title or ID and source of the track at \[position in the video\], together with the relevant license information or evidence location?
>
> If the current permission does not cover this scope, or it is not yet confirmed, please let us know whether you can supply an export without background music while preserving speech and necessary production audio. Please also confirm any export fee and timing. We will agree on the approach before handing the file to the media team for use.

Prepare this draft in OneCrew using the existing synced conversation. If evidence has already been supplied, ask only about the scope that remains unclear. Once the creator responds, have the responsible reviewer check the actual terms and update the asset's confirmation status.

## If the music changes, preserve the rest of the sound

Muting a finished video may also remove dialogue and useful product sounds when all audio has been mixed together. Ask whether the editor can export from the project without background music. If the project is unavailable, discuss feasible re-editing or recording options, timing and cost before committing.

Give the replacement a clear version name and check speech, captions, pacing and the ending again. Keep the original and advertising export separate. The media handoff should identify the final file, music evidence and reviewer. A later track change or new use requires another check of the affected conditions.

A OneCrew table can connect the original export, replacement version, supporting documents and handoff result. Ask the media team or agency to confirm which file they actually use; “file sent” should not silently become “replacement live.” For a separate account-access issue, see [the partnership-ad permissions checklist](https://blog.onecrewai.io/en/partnership-ad-permissions-en/).

Choose one creator video waiting for advertising use. Add its track source and proposed use to OneCrew, then prepare the request for missing information. A clear handoff links the music confirmation to the exact file being used.
