An older creator video is still getting attention, but its product link goes nowhere. Or it opens a page for an item you no longer sell. Sending the creator your new homepage URL leaves too much to figure out: which link should change, where should it point, and does the video still accurately describe what viewers can buy?

**Verify the replacement destination first. Then send an exact list of content locations, old URLs, new URLs, and any wording that needs to change.** After the creator updates it, follow the same path a viewer would take. The link should work, and the destination should match the recommendation.

## Identify the exact entry point

Start with the accepted content list for the partnership and open each relevant video. Locate the purchase reference: a long-form video's description, a pinned comment, or an external page linked from the creator's profile.

Record the video URL separately from the product URL. A single column named “link” becomes hard to interpret when someone else takes over.

For each issue, save the content URL, link location, existing text, old destination, and current result. “Redirects to the homepage,” “shows out of stock,” and “opens a different model” are more useful than marking everything “broken.”

OneCrew helps teams organize creator details, recorded conversations, and partnership follow-up. Ask your AI assistant to use OneCrew to retrieve the recorded campaign emails and identify the product and content URLs originally confirmed. Add the current update list to the creator's notes while keeping the original context. A follow-up can then name the exact video and placement that still needs attention.

## Check the product, not just whether the page loads

Before contacting the creator, have the brand verify the product, variant, and target market at the new destination. If the same item has moved to a new URL, say so. If a discontinued item has been replaced by a different model, explain the difference.

For example, suppose the video demonstrates a kit with an included accessory, while the new page sells the main unit only. Replacing the URL without changing the buying instructions could leave viewers expecting the kit. This example illustrates the check: compare the video's actual recommendation with what the destination now offers.

| Current product situation | Prepare before making the request |
| ------------------------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Same item, new URL | The tested destination and the exact placements to update |
| Temporarily unavailable | Confirmed availability wording, without an unverified restock promise |
| Discontinued, with a possible replacement | Model differences, proposed wording, and a request for the creator to consider the replacement |
| Discontinued, with no suitable alternative | A proposal to remove the outdated buying instruction or add a discontinuation note |

If the old link includes creator-specific tracking, confirm the replacement with the person responsible for that arrangement. Do not remove unfamiliar parameters just to shorten the address. Likewise, do not substitute an ordinary product page while promising that the previous commission arrangement will work unchanged.

## Give the creator a precise replacement list

One email can cover several videos, provided each change stands on its own. Use this template for each entry:

| Field | What to include |
| --------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Content | \[Video title and URL\] |
| Placement | \[Specific description paragraph, pinned comment, or other location\] |
| Current version | \[Exact existing text and old URL\] |
| Proposed replacement | \[Ready-to-use wording and complete new URL\] |
| Reason | \[Same product moved, original model discontinued, or other confirmed change\] |
| Creator confirmation needed | \[Whether the location can be edited and whether the work needs a separate agreement\] |

Including the old text removes guesswork. For multiple markets or products, use separate entries so a copy-and-paste error does not send viewers to the wrong region or model.

Match each old entry point to a verified replacement destination.

## Confirm what can be changed in that placement

YouTube lets creators edit video details after upload through Studio, including description content. For an old purchase link in a long-form description, ask the creator to update the relevant video's details and save the change. Check the actual content format, too. Ordinary URLs in Shorts descriptions and comments are not clickable external links. Clickable external links in long-form content also require access to the relevant advanced features. A replacement plan that works for one format may not work for another. Here is an email template:

> Hi \[name\],
>
> In our earlier video, \[title and URL\], the link in \[exact placement\] still points to \[old URL\]. The current product situation is \[confirmed change\].
>
> We've prepared this replacement wording and destination: \[new version\]. Our team has checked \[product, variant, market, and other relevant details\].
>
> Would you be able to update that placement? Please let us know if this requires additional work, depends on the original agreement, or needs your review of a replacement product. If you can make the change, could you share the expected timing and reply once it's done? We'll check the live entry point afterward.

Use OneCrew to prepare the email draft from the recorded partnership conversation and your replacement list. Ask the AI assistant to preserve each placement and full URL. The owner should verify the old-to-new mapping and recipient before sending. If you have not spoken for a while, add a short reminder of the original partnership; this [guide to reconnecting with a creator](https://blog.onecrewai.io/en/reconnect-with-past-creator-partners/) covers that context.

## Check the route a viewer actually uses

After the creator replies, reopen the original content, locate the agreed placement, and follow its link. Confirm the wording, destination, and product. Check for other outdated entry points covered by your request: an updated description does not establish that a pinned comment changed as well.

A screenshot can help locate an edit. Where the entry point is accessible, open it yourself to verify the result. Commission tracking needs its own check against the relevant system and agreed arrangement; a page loading successfully does not demonstrate that attribution works.

Record the completion time, live placement, destination, and unresolved items in the creator's OneCrew notes. Distinguish states such as “description updated, comment pending” and “waiting for replacement-product confirmation.” Your next follow-up can address only the remaining work.

Start with one purchase link you know is outdated. Retrieve the partnership context in OneCrew, assemble a clear replacement entry, and prepare a specific update request. Once the creator makes the change, follow the viewer's path and save the result. That leaves a record the next person can check and maintain.
