More Creators, the Same Audience? Check Your Shortlist
Review content use cases, repeated commenters and available audience summaries. Understand their limits and give each creator a distinct campaign role.
You have several creators on the campaign, but the same accounts keep appearing in their comments. More creators do not necessarily mean proportionally more new viewers. First decide whether the goal is to reach different people or give a relevant audience several useful encounters with the product. Audience overlap means something different in each case.
In a brand discussion about overlapping audiences, the poster described seeing familiar commenters across collaborations. That is a reason to investigate, not a reliable percentage of total audience overlap. Many viewers never comment, and public comments expose only part of the interaction.
Group creators by use case before expanding the list
For a commuter backpack, desk setup, cycling and short business trips can all be relevant, but they answer different needs. Record each creator's main subject, the product use case and the specific work supporting your judgment. A broad “lifestyle creator” label hides those differences.
OneCrew is a workspace for creator discovery, candidate information and email communication. Save relevant video links, use cases and observed audience questions in a table, then group the candidates. Check which content needs the existing list covers before deciding what the next creator should add.
Separate visible clues from unavailable data
| Evidence | What it can indicate | What it cannot establish |
|---|---|---|
| Recent relevant content | Similar subjects, scenarios and presentation | Identical audiences |
| Repeated commenters | Some active participants in common | Total audience overlap percentage |
| Voluntarily shared audience summaries | Each creator's aggregate audience characteristics | The exact intersection between two creators |
| Campaign data the brand may use | Results within that data's coverage | A complete cross-platform customer journey |
Compare similar topics over a similar period and record the observation date and sample. Avoid requesting follower lists or private-message screenshots. If more context is needed, ask what recent aggregate audience information the creator can share, and preserve its date and limitations.

Overlap is not automatically a reason to drop someone
Two creators can reach similar people while doing different jobs. One might introduce the product; another might answer detailed use questions. Repeated exposure can fit that objective. If the goal is to explore new situations, however, two nearly identical demonstrations may call for a different brief or a different candidate.
Record the content task, supporting observations, missing information and keep-or-replace reasoning in OneCrew. Your connected AI can use those records to prepare an email asking about upcoming content and available audience summaries. A focused question is more useful than telling a creator their followers “overlap too much.”
Give every selected creator a distinct job
We want this campaign to cover [use case]. Your discussion of [specific problem] in [video] looks relevant. Could you share the questions you hear most often from viewers and any recent aggregate audience information you are comfortable providing? We will use that context to confirm the content direction and collaboration scope.
For each person on the final list, explain why they are there: a different situation, an unanswered question, or deeper coverage for an audience you already want to reach. The distinction between engagement and buying intent is also useful; a busy comment section does not explain every viewer's motivation.
Start by grouping your existing shortlist in OneCrew and adding evidence and open questions. The aim is a set of collaborators whose roles you can explain, not simply a longer list.
